Vocalist Robin Steitz
Robin Steitz received her Master’s degree in vocal performance from the Eastman School of Music, where she won 1st Place in the Jessie Kneisel Lieder Competition, placed 3rd in the Friends of Eastman Opera Voice Competition, and won the Voice Concerto Competition, for which she was awarded a performance of Lutoslawski’s Chantefleurs et Chantefables with the Eastman School Symphony Orchestra. She was a 2018 Voice Fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center, where she performed the role of ‘Mourner’ in Bernstein’s A Quiet Place and was a soprano soloist in Bach Cantata No. 105, conducted by John Harbison. Earlier this year, Ms. Steitz placed 3rd in the 2018 Partners for the Arts Competition in Alexandria, VA and performed the role of Zerlina (Don Giovanni) with Baltimore Concert Opera. In concert last year she also performed the Aria from Villa-Lobos’ Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5 with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. Previous opera roles include the title role of Gilbert and Sullivan’s Patience with the Victorian Lyric Opera Company; ‘La Fée’ (Cendrillon) and ‘Miss Jessel’ (Turn of the Screw) with Eastman Opera Theater; and ‘Suor Genovieffa’ (Suor Angelica) at Oberlin in Italy. She also looks forward to performing the role of ‘Amor’ in Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice with Opera Bel Cantanti in the spring.
